Vata Skin Type.
Your skin will have an increased tendency to be dry, rough, cold, cracked and flaky, with a lack of circulation to parts of the skin. It requires nourishment from substances that have more warmth, smoothness, moistness and heaviness.
According to Ayurveda, the human body is governed by three intelligences - Vata, Pitta and Kapha. These intelligences are commonly known as Doshas or humours. As they are the governing force behind every function in our body they manifest through their qualities.
Vata dominant skin has qualities of the ether and air elements.
Vata skin has a tendency towards dry, rough, cold, thin and light qualities in skin composition. This will lead towards problems such as cracked, dry and rough skin, poor circulation and dark marks on the skin. The skin lacks moisture and sebum.
Poor circulation will not provide proper nourishment to skin tissues and cells, leading to faster destruction of skin cells. Lack of glow, dead skin, wrinkles, freckles, dark spots and aged skin are a few of the conditions that will naturally affect a Vata skin that is not looked after properly.
Vata skinned people also have a tendency to be anxious, worrying and nervous. These tendencies also play a role in making Vata skin rougher, drier and prone to freckles and wrinkles.
